Common questions about XML sitemaps and our generator
An XML sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website, helping search engines like Google discover and index your content more efficiently. It's essential for SEO as it ensures search engines can find all your pages, especially new or updated content.
After generating your XML sitemap, download the file and upload it to your website's root directory (e.g., tools3d.in/sitemap.xml). Then submit the sitemap URL to Google Search Console and other search engines to help them crawl your site more effectively.
Priority (0.0-1.0) indicates the relative importance of pages on your site, with 1.0 being the highest priority. Change frequency tells search engines how often a page is likely to be updated (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.). These help search engines prioritize crawling.
Update your XML sitemap whenever you add new pages, remove pages, or make significant changes to your site structure. For dynamic sites, consider using automated sitemap generation or updating monthly. For static sites, update when content changes.
Google recommends keeping sitemaps under 50,000 URLs and 50MB in size. Our generator supports up to 50,000 URLs. For larger sites, consider creating multiple sitemaps and using a sitemap index file to reference them all.
